This place has been far worse than Reddit, thanks to the t… … slightly left of center people that are the majority here. Things will probably be better if we get more people here, though, since these slightly left of center people are far from the majority in the general populace.

Cannot be sure yet, but one possible reason is scorched earth. Perhaps they know they’ll be leaving the area soon.
Another would be to make it harder for Ukrainian troops to cross that area.
