A survey shows perceptions of the Florida governor’s favorabilty have dropped, even among Republicans, as he refuses to back down in a feud with Disney.

    They basically became their own county, maybe they will set their sights on controlling the state somehow. Hard to do business with the possibility of crazy governors and legislatures.

      if a lower population state was warmer year round I could see them moving over time - easier to control if there’s less opposition. and what happened in Florida is a good lesson - for governments/policy makers as well as corporations

        The problem I see is them being willing to put in the money required to buy up that much land. They were able to build as big as they were in Florida because they were able to buy up a bunch of swamp land using shell corps and then develop it all during a time where there weren’t as many (if any) environmental policies. Even if they were to try and buy and develop a bunch of swamp in say Louisiana or Mississippi and use the same plans, the environmental cost of disturbing that much swamp land is astronomical.
