Well, I know this isn’t specifically furry related and all that. However, I was looking for some gaming recommendations and I think you all are pretty chill
Cult of the Lamb, maybe?
This
Though I feel like it is a lot less replayable compared to binding or hades. I got around 20 hours before I ran out of stuff to do and the upgrades simply do not make the game as silly as binding.
Still a very cute, lovely game though
I will say, it was a lot less replayable before the new update. However, with the new additions, and the new (in-game) daily challenge dungeons, it definitely as a lot more of a replayable factor than it did before. It’s still not quite a Binding of Issac/Gungeon experience, but it’s definitely a lot closer than when it first launched. Would like to see more replayability added in later on though.
That’s not the sort of community I thought I’d be commenting on, but here we are.
The genre is often referred to as “Rogue-Lite”. Not quite a Rogue Like but bears the same hallmarks:- run based
- often low HP
- often generative level design
- items change the run
So if you want more like this I’ll just dump my favourites:
- Enter the Gungeon - Bit more bullet-hellish than Isaac, but I’d say one of the genre MUST plays. One of the best.
- Hades - critically acclaimed hack and slash take on the genre. looks sweet as hell too
- Rogue Legacy 1 & 2 - Also two of the OGs. bit more platformery in it’s movement but same idea
- Risk of Rain 2 - Same idea… but 3D 3rd person shooter / hero action genre mashup. Probably in my top 5 games ever made. Play. it.
RoR1 is also a gem but a bit harder to get into. 2D sidescroller. But there’s sort of a overhauled remake sequel coming soon, so might as well wait for that.
Before this gets too long, if you want something more bite sized and are open for slightly different gameplay loops, check out Vampire Survivors and the likes. 20 Minutes Till Dawn, Brotato…
Hades sounds cool! What are your thoughts on Slay the Spire?
Love that game too, although I never got too deep into it.
It’s using a few of the same cues as the others but you build a deck of cards to play in encounters instead.
So think of it mostly as a card game at it’s core.
Curse of the Dead Gods and Dead Cells are pretty good.
Here’s a few you might like:
- Nuclear Throne (hard)
- Brotato (chill)
- Risk of Rain (1 and 2 are both are super replayable and challenging. 2 is better)
- Against the storm (a mix of city building and rogue-lite. It’s great if you like the randomized run aspect, but that’s where the similarities end)
