I wish it had more content. We still need more power users to post more. I’m interested in how this gets further developed. It could turn into something cool.

To be honest, it’s very confusing at face value. I’m from reddit, which is very different from a user perspective. Still getting used to the while fed thing

Don’t forget you can subscribe to communities on other, more populated instances. I like pawb but there aren’t a lot of folks here yet, thankfully pawb federates with many larger instances.

Really hoping federated social takes off, I’ve been sick of bird site and snooville for a while

I’ve subbed to a bunch of other communities on other instances. I just enjoyed the firehose of content Reddit had.

I’ve tried subscribing to a few communities on lemmy.ml but it just says “Subscribe pending” and never finishes. Is there a way to fix this or is something just broken?

This seems to be a bug with the much larger instances right now which are struggling to process subscription requests.

Well, in the meantime, I appreciate how much you’ve been carrying this community, for one! :)

I’ve had a Lemmy account for a long time, way before the recent Reddit fiasco. It was kinda neat. There were virtually no instances beyond the main lemmy.ml, though, and indeed my account was on lemmy.ml. Nothing to report, honestly.

So I created this new account here on pawb.social once I learned that Lemmy was having a real renaissance, thanks to the Reddit problems. Now all of a sudden there’s a lot more activity and a lot more options for where to situate yourself within the whole ‘threadiverse’ – and that’s great! Finally we have as many options as we’ve had for Mastodon, from my perspective.

My Lemmy experience has been absolutely improved by the more diverse options. I actually spend a LOT more time on Lemmy nowadays precisely because there are now new instances that cater more specifically to my interests.

    (Edit: clarification)

I’m enjoying learning how it all works here. More and more of my niche subreddits are moving over so it’s only improving. I just saw that Sync for Lemmy will be a thing, which should alleviate my only real “complaint”. I hadn’t realized how many QoL improvements I relied upon in Sync so that release will make Lemmy so much easier to enjoy!

Idk… It’s missing something. I’m not sure what. Perhaps I am just not as spontaneously social as I used to be and these furry instances are largely shared pictures

It’s kinda like mastodon, it’s nice, but I wish there were more people.

I like it, but it’s also somewhat frustrating as my accounts start to proliferate. Let’s say, theoretically speaking, I create a throwaway account for NSFW subs on a different instance that is mostly porn. But then someone designs a totally hot sub on pawbs.social that doesn’t federate with the porn server. Now I have to decide whether to create a new pawbs.social throwaway, or mix together sfw and nsfw content on main.

Especially since pawbs.social is invite only, it makes it difficult to create another throwaway.

@Stellario I’m on Mastodon, but another friend joined a Lemmy instance. We discovered to our dismay that I can follow my friend, but my friend can’t follow back because that’s not how Lemmy works. Federation is kind of a lie.
