Would generally recommend following hastags, Mastodon is small enough that it is a good way to find content.
In terms of instances, there’s also pawb.fun and furry.engineer , if you don’t mind me shilling for Crashdoom. :P

Not really, probably meme-y accounts by trans folk and LGBT in general, tech news, books, manga, maybe some accounts about history
