What lemmy android app do you recommend? I have too many problems with jerboa. My problems with jerboa:

  • When I write a pm to someone it sends that message to myself
  • Language of the interface is Polish (my first language) and I can’t change it to english (at least on the version that I’m on rn)
  • Scrolling is very buggy (it stutters a lot)
  • Often when I want to make a comment it doesn’t send it and I have to go to my pc an rewrite my comment to be able to send it
  • It doesn’t play gifs on the feed by default, I have to open the image to play the gif
  • It doesn’t play gifs in the comments at all and there’s no way for me to play them
  • There are no embeds for videos (not sure if there’s any mobile app that has that)
  • etc.

What I’m looking for:

  • An app with developed UI/UX
  • Obligatory dark mode
  • Something that resolves my problems with jerboa

Any recommendations or apps that I should follow the development of?

This big “+” in the middle at the bottom of the app is a bit annoying, is there a way to make it smaller and move it down like the rest of the buttons are?

Second this, liftoff is pretty amazing and they look to be integrating kbin the future as well.

Just installed, I’m liking it so far. It’s a little laggy and stuttery, but hey, like all other Lemmy apps right now it’s in beta. The navigation feels better to me than other options. Thanks!

Definitely recommend Connect for Lemmy. Gives me RIF vibes and has worked really well for me.

I like connect, though it’s not without its own issues - the comment box is clunky, and poorly designed and if the parent post/comment is too long or you type a long comment the keyboard can cover the area youre typing in, making it impossible to tell if you are making mistakes without closing the keyboard.

It has pretty good configuration options, I’ve managed to make it function like RelayForReddit the app I’ve used forever

It’s a turn-off for me that this is made up to look like an iOS app. I’m using an android phone and it’s kind of weird to have the sudden switch between paradigms.

There are a number of android apps in development and idk which is best right now. But I have been very impressed with this PWA

Liftoff, Connect, Thunder and wefwef , I think wefwef is having issues right now. still alpha but its really nice. i think devs are trying to stop hitting the api rate limit or something. wefwef is just like apollo but for android and ios

Does anyone know why wefwef tells me my credentials are invalid when I try to login to my Lemmy.world account? I’m copy/pasting from a password manager, so I know I’m not typing it wrong.

Case sensitive. I’ve noticed this with some other apps too.

For me to log in I need to put all lower case. Despite my name having two upper case letters

Unfortunately this didn’t work for me. It’s not a huge deal as I’m really just waiting for sync for lemmy, but at this point I’m more curious why it isn’t letting me login. Pretty strange.

      @FrayDabson

@Martineski boost for wefwef, it’s filling the Apollo-sized hole in my heart. For Kbin, following the work of @dansup with great interest… Pixelfed is such a smooth app, I have tempered expectations but high hopes for his Kbam app.

I started with jerboa, then I’m now trying out connect.

I’ve customized both to feel likewhat I have with RiF (just text, no cards, amoled black).

I think I’ll stay for a while with connect for a while.

Agreed. Loving connect so far. Lots of options in settings for appearance. I’m coming from relay for reddit so choosing ‘reverse list’ makes the experience most similar

Same here man boost on reddit was my shit for years. If boost looks and feels the same as it did on reddit I will be delighted.

I think it’ll take some time until these apps become that andvanced. Most lemmy apps are in a pretty early stage of developement and still highly WIP.

Some third party reddit apps seem to be planning on moving to lemmy, so maybe we’ll see something better coming around the corner in the near future.

Boost, my favorite one, didn’t get updated for quite a while and got a nice update pushed out after the API changes were announced. Kind of heartbreaking to see that effort destroyed, but the dev has announced that boost for lemmy will be a thing. The UI of boost is one of the best I ever used, so I think that the lemmy version will be great even early in development.

Yeah, devs like these have the perfect kind of experience considering UI/UX developement to get this done well.

I discovered wefwef today. It’s the most impressive web app I’ve ever used, to be honest. Let alone being my new favourite Lemmy client.

I use Firefox for Android. It works perfectly, everything is usable, good UX, has dark mode, and the app even works for other websites!

You can even install the ublock extension to block all ads & trackers in opened links, or use it to block large images by default to save data. And you can install the tampermonkey extension to add this userscript I made, which rewrites all links everywhere (not only on Lemmy) to always point to your home instance. It helps a lot with subscribing to communities and in general makes browsing the web and finding Lemmy links nicer.

I honestly don’t see the reason why you’d want to use a separate app.

I use Firefox on mobile too. UI could be a bit better (like more separation between comments) but it’s nice and seems to work better than the apps.

      Thanks for the useful script!
