Restarting the weekly “What are you playing” thread!

As you may know, I also mod the Nintendo community, and post these there weekly, so my description will pretty much be a copy / paste of that, but this doesn’t mean the thread will get any less love. It’s just that there is no point in writing same thing in two different ways, just to make it look different. Though, where applicable, I’ll change the game links to PS store instead of Nintendo eshop.

So, without further ado:

Still playing Borderlands 3 as my main PS game. As I mentioned last week: It is really fun, story isn’t anything extraordinary but the gameplay is very enjoyable, so enjoying that. May go for a platinum, but not sure yet, depends if I am feeling same by the time I finish the game.

Finished Hades! Killed the 3rd region’s boss, where I wast stuck, soon after the last weekly post and reached the final boss. Died first time, didn’t even reach the boss in next try, but beat the game in try after that.

You need to beat the game multiple times to get the credits roll, and there is post-game content to get final / true ending. There is not much new in the gameplay though, except turning on different difficulty modifiers to make the game more difficult. So, after beating the game a few times, I had enough, and just watched the rest of the narrative online.

As far as I am concerned, I have finished the game.

Played a bit of Oceanhorn - Monster of Uncharted Seas, but for some reason couldn’t get into it. It’s a zelda-like, and I don’t really have any complaints, just not in the mood, maybe. Though one thing I missed from Zelda was the music when you solve some puzzle. There is no such thing in the game. I would be in a locked room, and then push the block in correct place, and while it would show me the door has opened, I wouldn’t get any music indication that I have achieved something. Never realised I would miss that.

Since I couldn’t get into Oceanhorn, I started ATOM RPG. It’s like Fallout 1/2, isometric view, post-nuclear world but situated in Soviet Union. I didn’t have high expectations from the game, specially since Fallout 2 is one of my all time favourite game, but I fell in love almost from the start. My only complaint is loading screens take a bit of time on Switch, but they are only annoying when you are traveling and get a random encounter, no issues in towns or dungeons once they are loaded. Have already spent quite a few hours, and am fully enjoying it.

What about all of you? What have you been playing?

Yakuza series are great, specially the side stories, that’s where they go full crazy.

Message for everyone: This isn’t ever a PlayStation game only thread even though we are in the PS community. It’s just a place for people to chat about whatever games they are playing, on whatever platform they are playing them on. As a mod I often see people post about playing on steam deck or Xbox or Switch only for them to delete the post later as they realize they are in the PS community. No need to do that here! Just vibe out and have a great time!

Oooh, it’s a great game. I paused it mid-way though. Need to resume it and finish it.

It’s just like Planet Coaster, but you run a zoo instead of a theme park. More or less the same as the original Zoo Tycoon but with a big focus on customization. You can make anything look however you want with all the random doodads you can place down/attach to things.

It was on sale for PlayStation when I picked it up the other day; I don’t know if it still is on sale.

I just hit 700 hours in Iceborne and thought it might be time to move on to something else. I was thinking Ragnarok or Rebirth, they’ve been sitting unopened on my shelf for months. However, I’m still having fun with Iceborne, so probably more Iceborne.

Yeah it’s looking great. I saw they just released the longsword sneak peek so I’m extra hyped. You play?

Yeah, noticed they just released Long Sword and Charge Blade sneak peak, haven’t watched them yet though.

I have never finished any. World is the one I played most, played around 50-60 hours IIRC, rookie numbers when it comes to MH, but still. Plan to finish Wild when it releases, but let’s see.

I picked up Division 2 on sale recently and began playing it with a buddy of mine. He had never played the first one while I had. We’re loving it. It really does feel like a proper 2.0 update instead of Division 1.5. I was convinced to buy it after seeing it on sale and watching SkillUps review. Having loved the first one despite my gripes about late game enemy sponginess, having to remove attachments before disassembly, and enemy variety, it was great to learn that all of these things have been addressed.

How is the game if playing solo?

I liked the world and the gameplay of the first one, but enemy sponginess, and the repetitive nature of going through same places for missions made me stop playing it. I was playing solo.

It’s pretty good. Spongy enemies now have breakable armor which makes them make more sense. The first game also had technical limitations the devs admitted that made it so they could only have a certain number of enemies on screen at a time. This meant that to increase difficulty they had to make enemies spongier. This is not the case in this game. I haven’t had to backtrack much so far but I’m early game.

Not this weekend, but we’ve got a Jackbox night planned next monday with some friends and I’ll finally play Stray on tuesday, as I bought it during a sale a few days ago.

Stray is pretty good. Platinumed it on launch.

Keep your expectations in check though, it’s a pretty small, indie game. Many people were disappointed by this.
