Honestly I don’t really understand the instance thing. Care to elaborate on it for me? There are other lemmy instances which I understand, but what does that entail? They have different subreddits? But the same account works?
Each instance is run on a server that has its own rules and communities (communities are kinda like subreddits), communities are allowed to have the same names as on other instances (say, technology@beehaw, technology@lemmy.ml). You can subscribe to as many or as few as you like on different instances, if you don’t like how an instance is run you can always find another one that suits you more. All this can be done on the same account. However whatever you have picked as your home instance cannot be changed currently, if you want to change your home a new account needs to be made iirc.
