There’s more unoccupied units than unhoused people total, not even unhoused family units, unhoused people. A property tax structure which disincentivizes holding unoccupied property would cause housing prices to plummet.
Me, having actually read some political science in the past 100 years realizing that all scarcity politics is different forms of harm reduction anyway:
