A band of misfits gather at the glitzy St. Claire's Hotel and Casino and while playing the slot machines, they each win a special gold coin which invites them to the penthouse suite of the hotel to receive their 'prize'. Donald St. Claire, owner of the hotel, explains that he has left $2 million in a train station locker in Silver City, New Mexico and the first one there gets the money.

Rat Race is a 2001 American comedy film directed by Jerry Zucker. Inspired by Stanley Kramer’s 1963 film It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, the film features an ensemble cast consisting of Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Wayne Knight, Jon Lovitz, Kathy Najimy, Lanei Chapman, Breckin Meyer, Amy Smart, Seth Green, Vince Vieluf, John Cleese and Dave Thomas.

    Holy cow, I never knew the connection to It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. I haven’t actually seen this but looks like I can now 😁
