“Mr. Trump has shown a character unworthy of the responsibilities of the presidency. He has demonstrated an utter lack of respect for the Constitution, the rule of law and the American people,” the Times wrote in the editorial.

“Instead of a cogent vision for the country’s future, Mr. Trump is animated by a thirst for political power: to use the levers of government to advance his interests, satisfy his impulses and exact retribution against those who he thinks have wronged him,” the editorial continued. “He is, quite simply, unfit to lead.”

The scathing rebuke of Trump comes less than a week before the GOP officially nominates him to lead the party’s presidential ticket at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

“He has demonstrated an utter lack of respect for the Constitution, the rule of law and the American people”

I mean yeah, that’s why they like them. Why is the NYT board asking the GOP as if the GOP’s word means anything? Was this editorial written by time travelers from 2009?

I think they’re trying to follow the whims of Blue MAGA, who keep bringing up Donald Trump being unfit to lead as a whataboutism towards criticism of Biden. There’s been a lot of chatter about the news agencies being biased for not questioning Trump’s fitness but only focusing on Biden.

Even though yeah, no shit Trump’s unfit for office. We were shouting it throughout the entire 2016 election.

This is exactly what i’ve been saying every time someone asks “why aren’t we criticizing Trump tho?”

You’re looking for 1994, not 2009. This shitshow gained traction with Gingrich’s “Contract with America.” Up to that point, the GOP had been clandestine with their goals, and Reagan had only left office five years earlier.
