More players than ever are choosing to play Steam games with a controller, and we thought it would be a good time to share some stats about controller usage on Steam along with an update about Steam Input. Before a lot of the compatibility like Steam Input and the like, some controller users had to download weird conversion drivers that made Windows see connected controllers as Xbox controllers. I did this with my old PS3 controller.
Xbox controllers work with windows with pretty much zero configuration. Either use USB or the appropriate receiver dongle. This probably contributes a lot to it’s popularity.
Also the older and newer style controllers likely all just report as Xbox controllers and the wired 360 controllers are dirt cheap
Are other controllers registering as xbox controllers are do people really use them that much?

They work on some Linux distros with zero configuration as well. Mint being one of those.

I have 5 Xbox One bluetooth controllers just for PC gaming
Okay, I have to ask - why five?
Some are custom ones with nice grips, but mostly for local couch gaming with multiple friends that don’t have their own controllers.
