I think it’s equal parts fun and sad that our posts show up in /c/all. It feels like a harmless prank to ensnare careless Lemmings into wandering into our posts and typing out confused comments, unaware of the environment that they’re in.
I feel moderately bad for people that are annoyed by the posts, but the real longterm solution is just not to use /c/all. /c/all will always be an unregulated firehose of content you probably don’t like. When Lemmy gets more active, people can start reading only their subscribed communities and avoid stumbling into places they don’t want to be.
Hey I’m one of those people who got it in c/all and I still find it preferable to reddits r/all. Reposts on wholesomememes make me vomit. At least furry porn is genuine!
Honestly, I enjoy using /c/all. But then again back on reddit I use to browse /r/all a good chunk of the time.
I kinda liked the unregulated firehose it could be. Same with Lemmy’s /c/all. Never know what is going to pop up in that feed which was part of the fun.
Though I guess, when you use to browse sites like paranoia and rotten.com or even visited chan boards like 4chan wayback when, you kinda learned to expect the weird, crazy, and disgusting would be a mouse scroll away.
That’s probably why I am so use to and have no problems with /c/all.
It honestly annoys me when you see people complaining about seeing furry porn. Like, I get it, it’s not your thing, but… the real porn isn’t our thing but we sure see plenty of it. At least it’s largely centralized here (for furry porn) and lemmynsfw (for ‘real’ porn). Just block the communities, don’t act like you’re grossed out and your day has been ruined because you saw a dog with his dick out.

Lemmy really needs an option for “Show NSFW, except in the all/local feed”.
Or at least an easier way to toggle NSFW. If toggling NSFW is as simple as changing sort type, it would be nice.
