Unless your follow-up sentence is “and the revolution is starting now, here’s your kalashnikov,” then the point is moot. Both presidential candidates, and the broader American public, support the genocide in Israel. The only way you’re going to influence any change in that is by tearing down the entire institution.

If you aren’t willing to die in a glorious revolution though, your options are to abstain and hope you don’t give the country to a fascist who wants a genocide at home; or bite your tongue, vote for Biden, and work on grassroots organization to destroy the DNC from within.

This is not a new idea and it has never worked.

If you are gonna go down that, at least learn from real examples rather than whatever anime you gained your worldview from. When UK’s Labour’s right-wing wanted to supplant Corbyn, they sabotaged his election leading to Labour’s lowest vote count ever. They used this erosion in trust and credibility to excise him from the leadership. I don’t see how adding to its approval numbers will help you dismantle the party.

A political party is complicit in genocide and your response is to go join that party? Be serious. You’re not going to tear down an institution by working within that same institution.

No, but the only people who have shown any serious interest in tearing down the entire American government are fascists, so I’m not just gonna sit on my ass, holding my breath, until leftist positions are magically represented in American politics.

Again, if you’re not ready to pick up a gun and die in revolution, your method of enacting change is through the existing system. There’s a small number of serious leftist politicians running on pro-labor platforms, many of them local union leaders, who need help with shit like fundraising, canvassing, and building support. I’m not asking you to work with Democrats, I’m asking you to replace them in your local elections.

Hey can you tell me which revolution succeeded by enacting change through the existing system? How do we decolonize using the colonizer’s system?

“Guys the system is totally fucked and can’t be changed by anything short of revolution. Let’s start a grassroots campaign to fix the system!”

I mean, sabotaging the Democrats from the inside might be a viable tactic. But the Democrats are doing a good enough job of that on their own. As someone whose name I forgot once put it, the Democrats are masters of stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.

The republicans have set the bar is in hell, but the Democrats see this as a challenge. And we know they are capable of performing miraculous feats of gymnastics.
