Many instances have an approval process, making it difficult to mass produce bot accounts on any given instance. And if someone creates an instance for the sole purpose of having bot accounts for spamming, those instances will quickly get defederated without having to go through the whole process of identifying and banning individual accounts.
I wonder what the target member cap will be for here before the admins switch away from open signups. The process to signup here was blessedly easy, but i wonder if it can remain that way indefinitely
I think we’re blessed with a name that doesn’t sound “official” enough to garner the userbases of lemmy.world, lemmy.one and lemmy.ml. We should be good for a while, I think
You’d think that, but we’re solidly in the “second tier” of popularity. Last I looked we were something like 5th most active users, 8th most total users among instances that are making that data available.
