I’m still more worried for the economy. Republicans think the border is the issue, but all past election trends point to a failing economy knocking the incumbent out. Granted, we’re far from a traditional election but my company has been holding it’s breath on it for a while now (not hiring/doing more with less). I think we’ve been in one, regardless of what the stock market is doing (and how they want to redefine the word). The question is, will it drop significantly between now and November?

That’s fair. I think and hope the economy will stay strong through November.

This is the longest stretch of low unemployment of my lifetime. I hope that counts for enough and the wage growth comes through enough.

I’m doing okay but my wife and I are dinks so it’s a little easier for us.

Also: great fucking movie and book.

If companies stop hiring due to fears of an upcoming recession, unemployment goes up and they trigger a recession. This is why they have to keep the economy messaging positive. If you tell companies to prepare for a POSSIBLE recession you can very easily trigger a recession. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy.

We aren’t in a recession but all these layoffs seem like CEOs are determined to put us in one.
