Ahhh I see you know your Christian nationalism well. Believe it or not. Abeka was one of their selling points. When your young and live in a city that is majority African American people. You go to school and think it’s weird that in a school that’s K-12 there only 2 black people.

It wasn’t until I got out of school and started making my own friends that I realized just how heinous that experience had been. You start to realize that all of the people you have been around are horrible bigots (family included). From there of course the natural evolution is to make your own family. Which is where I am now.

The “good” thing is that the cognitive dissonance is so massive after getting exposed to the real world that Abeca seems to have precisely the opposite effect, causing many to completely and utterly discard religion altogether.

I would agree with that. I am obviously not a huge fan. Though a lot of that happened because I had a pretty heinous childhood. I was like 8 when I decided there was no god. I took bible in middle school because it was supposed to be an easy A, but I failed. At the time I was really bummed, but I now wear that as a badge of honor.

But yeah, the few people I’ve kept in contact with are at the very least not practicing. Most are nonbelievers including a Muslim chick that went there.

Here’s a fond memory of her. So we went to school there and became friends. She moved to the other side of town, but we kept in touch and even hung out once we got cars. One night I’m at a local dive bar that has rock and metal bands all the time and I see her. We chat it up then go our separate ways.

Later that night I’d had a lot to drink and I’m in line for the guys bathroom. In each bathroom there is one toilet and one sink right in front of the toilet. So I’m in line and she walks by headed into the women’s bathroom. I stop her and beg her to let me go in the bathroom with her. I’m tell her that I’ll use the sink. Im not going to look please. She laughed and said I don’t care if you look you can come in and use the sink.

So, I’m peeing in the sink. She’s peeing in the toilet staring at my back. All of a sudden she breaks the silence and says “you know, when we were in school, you and I used to compete in the spelling bee. Now look at us.” We both burst out laughing.

There was also an incident where she got us free weed from a car full of women with full burkas on. That was crazy. She made me hide under a bunch of blankets in her back seat. That way they couldn’t see me when they pulled up. That was before she moved out of her parents house.

Anyway, yeah there are quite a few well adjusted people that came from there. Despite going through all that indoctrination.
