I didn’t mess with mods in EA, but I’m tempted to give a few a try with full release. Specifically camera mods to start. Anyone using any mods at this point, and any you recommend or advise steering clear of? Thanks!

EDIT: I don’t see anyone really using anything yet, so I’m going to hold off myself. I don’t know enough about it to feel confident I won’t jack up my game. Still hope to get some positive feedback regarding mods after release by someone here, so if you do use any and are happy with them, please do let us know!

  • No, but I keep wondering if there is a toolset like Neverwinter Nights or Elder Scrolls so I could go and fix a ton of things that bother me, as well as creating an entire new campaign for myself. I always loved making modules for NWN back in the day, and not one D&D RPG has had a toolset like that since to be able to do that. I hella want it for this one… 😩

Yeah, that NWN toolset was amazing; ahead of it’s time. I still hold out hope that we get some kind of DM mode for BG3, but Larian doesn’t see it as likely. I don’t think the current mod support is enough for someone to set up something like that with mods alone, but I really don’t know much about how that all works yet.

You should check out Solasta: Crown of the Magister and it’s DLCs. With the unfinished business mod it’s the closest to RAW DND available.

Critically it has fantastic support for full custom campaign creation as well, as can be seen in the workshop. Custom overworld campaign map linkages only became possible in the past month or so, so most custom campaigns are linked areas (not unlike BG3). Now that overworld maps are also possible I can’t imagine a reason to use another toolset.
