People really need to understand that for 3rd party candidates to actually be viable then they need a dedicated support base within the existing government structure.

You can’t realistically vote in a 3rd party president until you’ve first built up an actually effective support structure of 3rd party mayors, senators, and other politicians to prove that your party can function effectively in government rolls and that it has the reach, policies and platform to actually appeal to voters at large.

(On god we need Ranked Choice voting though. Here in the UK and in America. Fuck First Past The Post, all my homies hate FPTP)

Instant run-off voting isn’t the only solution. Mixed-member proportional voting would basically inject new life into the political system overnight as the minor parties are essentially guaranteed seats if the electoral threshold is set to something reasonable, like 5%.

    • Agreed, this is what the Forward Party is trying to do. They want to help people get elected at all levels that will support and help make changes so that we’re not stuck in some 2-party system.

Although, I think that approval voting or STAR voting is better than ranked-choice voting.
