i avoid hype but as a massive fan of the original kcd and the honesty of this reveal, im hyped! wont be pre-ordering though, never pre-order its bad for the industry and consumers.
I mean, if you’re a successful thief there is no combat. :)
Well, it was a joke but combat count can be reduced. You cannot fully avoid it I think.
Yep, though the combat is very hard to get used to early and it may feel to hard - only to feel too easy once you master it.
Looks pretty cool. Hope it lives up to the original and is successful for the studio.
I started playing the original game ages ago but got distracted by life, and finally picked it up again a couple of months ago. The game is honestly very janky and unpolished, much more than I remember it being the first time I was playing, but it’s still so much fun. It was refreshing to see in their announcement video that they acknowledge that the first game didn’t live up to their hopes, and that with a bigger budget and more experience, the sequel should get them closer to their dream.
Some thoughts:
- Holy shit the voice actor for Henry is Henry. I had no idea he was modelled off of him that closely.
- Hand cannons!!!
- Wonder what year this’ll be set in. The original was 1403. Are we skipping forward a few years or picking up right where we left off?
- Will we get to see further development of the tiny amount of Hussite stuff we got in the last game? I found the vast majority of times the game touched on religion last game to be tedious and preachy, except for the hints of the upcoming theological conflicts.
- Where will the expanded map take us? I was doubting it’d extend to Prague, until they mentioned that it would be dealing with kings. And honestly I’d love to go to Prague.
I can at least answer the last one. According to German gaming magazine Gamestar, there will be two separate open world maps. One is Kuttenberg (Kutná Hora) and its surroundings, the other is the “Bohemian Paradise”, a more mountainous region north of Prague. Apparently, the developers left out Prague on purpose because back in the 15th century it was less important than Kuttenberg, at least in regards to what’s in the game’s story.
OH SNAP!
Meh, I’d rather not support a gamergater that believes PoC didn’t exist in medieval Europe.
I doubt that the creator didn’t think poc existed in mediaeval Europe rather he didn’t think there were many poc in rural mediaeval Europe, but its a video game so a poc trader would of gone along along way for the studio to avoid back lash.
Looks like I misremembered the quote, but he literally said, “There were no black people in medieval Bohemia. Period.” So not all of Europe, but at best, that is not something that can be said that definitively, and more likely is just plain wrong. There were people from Africa and the the middle east in Europe at the time and even church officials from Ethiopia.
In a game that is supposed to be about historical accuracy, it just kinda fails and even leans into nationalism over accuracy. That mixed with sexism (in game and real life from Vávra) and homophobia (which seems to be only in game) means a no go from me.
That quote is plain wrong for sure, port cities would of had plenty of diversity in the form of traders, rural Bohemia would of been a different story though I doubt many would have any interaction beyond stories.
So I wouldn’t say the lack of poc is historically inaccurate given the size of the towns in game but I think the devs should have added travellers or a poc trader.
As to sexism there’s a dlc which allows control of a female protagonist, it doesn’t suffer the damsel in distress that some other stories do and was fairly enjoyable, bit of a bandade.

That’s good. Hopefully the studio is learning from their more vocal mistakes.
I’ll still miss this one. Vávra is outspoken about very terrible things and I can’t support that. He has been quiet for a while, but I bet now that the new game has been announced we’ll start seeing off the wall comments from him once again.
It was a highly grossing game so he’ll probably have pr handlers and a tight leash, at least I hope he does
