This guy’s notorious for being a weapons grade prick. Absolutely not surprising he’s saying stuff like this.

I’ve been told by literal Brewdog barstaff that if they know he’s coming, they need to encourage their female staff to either dress moderately or not come in, to minimise his sexual harassment.

I don’t know how true that is, but the city I’m based in, which is pretty happy to boycott assholes is filled with people who boycott Brewdog.

So to paraphrase. Rich guy with passive income, thinks the people providing his passive income should do more for less, thereby maximising his passive income.

    Did I get that right?

Correct. Whilst he also gets the opportunity to enjoy some work-life balance himself:

When he left the company, he mentioned plans to “take a bit of time off, to travel, to spend more time with my family and friends,”

Is this the same founder of brew dog whose female staff are told never to be in a room alone with him? Or is that the other one?

This the same BrewDog that the term brewdogging was coined for, meaning getting interviewees to solve actual problems in the company, thereby stealing free work from people looking for jobs?

    Yeah, fuckem

Spoons and BD have been on my “do not drink at” list for a while.
This underlines the BD one for me.

I think they might be referring to the owners politics, specifically his very strong Leave campaign during the EU referendum. Could be wrong though.

IIRC, the owner chose to support brexit because it might mean the UK implemented minimum alcohol pricing sooner, which might have increased his trade when the gap between supermarket and pub drinking got smaller.
It really rubbed me the wrong way that was his reason.

Well spoons isn’t exactly known for its fine dining. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place to go for a few cheap pints, but it really shouldn’t be anyone’s favorite.

I totally agree, I think to encourage enthusiasm for work he should make all his employees equal shareholders with a stake in the business so all can benefit and run brewdog as a worker owned co-op, but something makes me think he won’t.

Not defending the guy, he seems an ass but he is also seemingly not that involved with the company anymore.

Watt stepped down from BrewDog’s daily operations last year after 17 years but retains his ownership stake and holds the title of “captain and co-founder” in a non-executive role.

The company apologised and promised to learn from the situation, though they later faced backlash for reversing a pledge to pay real living wages.

So maybe rather lookup what he currently does and boycott that if you can.
