    • proper coziness requires a gradient
    • mild, room temperature weather is boring, no stimulation
    • hot temps are awful, I hate sweating

I’ll take crisp or cold temps, rain or snow, over boring or hot weather any day. if there was somewhere that had a solid rain 24/7/365 and it was within my means I’d move there in a heartbeat. If was a heartless billionaire I’d have homes in places with rainy/cold weather all around the world so I could chase the enjoyable weather all year.

Almost as far north as you can get in the 48 and it still gets too fucking hot in summer. It’s the 95% humidity and sleeping is impossible that humid.

Though this fall was as close to living in mid coastal California (dry 70-75 days and cool evenings) as I’ve ever experienced. Which is a bit disconcerting, but a joy to work outside in.

If you’re in the North East that’s your problem. You need to move to the middle north. Like northern Wisconsin…

The short days are the worst part of winter. That, and stupid daylight savings takes an hour away from us in the evening. So I get off work, and there’s maybe 45 minutes of daylight to take my dogs to the park.

And I say that as a winter enjoyer. I love the cold weather. I wear shorts when it’s freezing. It’s 17.5°C in my house right now. You’d be lucky to catch me setting the heat past 20.

the early sunset doesn’t really matter as long as there’s snow. the light lingers when everything is white.

if there’s no snow, then it’s less fun.

        Isn’t this completely normal

My wife sets it at 67 (roughly 20C). Which is pretty chilly for me. I wear layers and sweaters inside. But it makes her happy so whatever. When she’s out of town I’ll put it on 72 and feel good inside my house.

That being said it’s 34 outside right now and I hate the winter so fucking much. Cold and so dark. Can’t fix the cold but we could stop the daylight saving time hour stealing. Get up for work and it’s dark. Leave work and it’s dark. Insanity.

we have +30C summers and -30C winters. perfectly balanced. i visited relatives in Vancouver last summer and the 36 degree heat was basically unbearable.

Accurate. I genuinely like overcast skies and fog. I strangely feel more energized when the sun is not out.

A guy I worked with kept his office cold as a tomb and the lights off except a small desk lamp. One time walking back from a group lunch when it was under 30F, I had on jeans and a down jacket and started shivering - he’s totally fine in shorts and an aloha shirt. Suspected reptile.

Whether the weather is cold or whether the weather is hot, we’ll weather the weather, whatever the weather, whether we like it or not.

I refuse to acknowledge the cold weather until shit starts freezing. Then, only then, will I put on a vest.
